95 James Suckling
The nose has very pure fresh-peach and mango aromas with a light, orange-marmalade layer. The palate has a beautiful array of fresh toffee and sweet ripe-peach and peach-custard flavors. Great balance, length and definition here. Drink or hold.
94 Robert Parker
The 2016 Château Clos Haut-Peyraguey was tightly wound on the nose with hints of melted butter infusing the citrus and honey fruit. It does not quite "flow" at the moment. The palate is well balanced with pure botrytised fruit, very well-judged acidity and although the finish is dominated by a patina of creamy new oak at the moment, everything is in place for a great Sauternes.
92 Wine Spectator
Juicy, with a solid core of maple-laced orange blossom, peach, mango and persimmon flavors backed by singed almond and crème brûlée notes on the finish. Best from 2022 through 2034. 2,417 cases made. — JM

Clos Haut-Peyraguey
One of the more discreet labels of Sauternes, Clos Haut-Peyraguey once formed the upper part of Lafaurie-Peyrauguey. It claimed independence in 1879 when the then owners, the Garbay family (who also owned Lagrange in Saint-Julien at that time), separated the two. Like many domaine names, Peyraguey comes from the word hill as it is located on the highest part of the Sauternes appellation in Bommes, which reaches elevations of 50 to 80 metres. The vineyards are well positioned with 4 of their 8 parcels touching those of d'Yquem. In 1914, the Garbay family purchased the estate and their descendants sold to Bernard Magrez, owner of Pape Clément, in October 2012. Today, it has a reputation for being one of the most refined Sauternes with floral notes further accented by gentle flavors of honey and dried fruits.
