Tenuta il Poggione,

53024 Montalcino (SI)

Il Poggione’s history dates back to the end of the last century, when the Florentine landowner Lavinio Franceschi was captivated by the beauty of the hills between Montalcino and Sant'Angelo, purchasing land to start a quality winemaking venture. With modern and visionary management, he introduced new clones of Sangiovese and cutting-edge technologies into the company's cellar, while still maintaining a firm grasp on tradition. Today owned by Leopoldo and Livia Franceschi, the estate spans approximately 600 hectares, including 140 hectares of vineyards, 70 hectares of olive groves, arable land, and forests.

The company's philosophy is based on the care of the vineyards, alternating crops, and investing in environmental sustainability, as demonstrated by the installation of photovoltaic panels. Reduced production, selection of the best grape clusters, and constant vineyard monitoring ensure quality even in the most challenging years. Harvesting is done by hand, and vinification takes place using modern technologies, including submerged cap fermentation, while wine aging occurs in large French oak barrels of 30 and 50 hectolitres.
