Oodles of black currants, kirsch, licorice and spice jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, surprisingly concentrated wine that leaves a substantial tactile impression on the palate. Drink it over the next several years. Bravo!<br/>87 Wine SpectatorThis ripe, forward wine offers friendly plum, licorice snap and dark spice notes and a soft, fleshy finish. Producer Ets ThunevinWhile the talented Jean-Luc Thunevin is best known for his Saint-Émilion Premier Cru Classé estate - Château Valandraud - he also produces some of the most impressive Bordeaux value wines around. His Bad Boy line of affordable wines, otherwise known as Mauvais Garçon in French, was actually inspired by one of the world’s most influential wine critics, Robert Parker. Parker has repeatedly called Thunevin “Saint-Émilion’s bad boy” or “Bordeaux’s black sheep” because of his unique, against the grain wine making techniques. Today, Thunevin’s Bad Boy brand includes the original red Bad Boy cuvée of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and the Baby Bad Boy, which is a blend of Merlot and Grenache, which are both produced under the Bordeaux appellation. Thunevin also crafts a white Crémant de Bordeaux, as well as a pure Chardonnay and a 100% Syrah.
