One of the oldest families in Burgundy, the Hudelots have roots in the region that extend as far back as the French Revolution. Alain Hudelot is the master of this domaine, and began his life in wine in 1954 by working for his father and other growers. He eventually married Odile Noëllat (despite protests from her family) and following a lengthy legal battle, she was able to recuperate some of her family’s vineyards adding to their total land holdings. Today, they own a total of 10 hectares (fairly extensive by Burgundy standards) that are well placed over 5 communes and include the Grands Crus, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Richebourg and Clos de Vougeot, as well as multiple Premier Crus. The domaine is now in the hands of their grandson, Charles Van Canneyt.
