It has had an excellent reputation since the 18th century when the Laveau family owned it. Later on, it was sold to the Cordier négociant house (who also owned Talbot and Gruaud Larose amongst other properties). The wines were well made though some have described them as lackluster. In 2001, it was sold to the perfumer, Gérald Frydman. He hired Hubert de Bouard from Château Angélus as a consultant and also restructured the vineyards and installed new drainage. He ended up reselling 3 years later to Bernard Decoster, the cousin of the owner of Fleur Cardinale. Today, Bernard's enthusiastic son, Thibault and his wife, Magali, are in charge.
