Kunz Fassprobe 17: (60% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Sémillon) Fruchtiges, frisches, burgundisches, kräftiges, fein grasiges Bouquet, Grapefruit, Minze, Margarine. Ausgewogener, eleganter, voller Gaumen mit kräftiger, feiner Frucht, gut eingebundener Säure, kräftiger Aromatik, dichtverwobener Struktur, langer, voller Abgang. Kann noch zulegen.

A dense and structured white with layers of ripe fruit and tannins. Full body. Lots of waxy-lemon, cooked-apple and dried-mango flavors. Traditional style. Needs three to four years to come together. Try after 2022.

The De Fieuzal 2016 Blanc has a rich, tropical tinged bouquet with scents of guava, pineapple and mango, nicely defined and probably one of the most commercially minded dry white bordeaux. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, with subtle notes of orange rind and nectarine dovetailing into a lightly spiced, stem ginger finish. Certainly this is one of the better examples of its kind this year. <br/>

The 2016 Fieuzal Blanc has a very refined bouquet whose beautifully integrated new oak lifts the white peach, orange pith and quince scents. This is extremely pretty and very harmonious. The palate is very well balanced with a lightly honeyed entry and a fine bead of acidity that counterbalances what is a richer and more tropical-toned dry white than its peers. But it works overall, even if I think it will drink better in its youth. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

A friendly style, with a creamy hint along the edges of the yellow apple, white ginger, pear, jasmine and salted butter notes. There's a pretty straw tint to the finish. Drink now through 2021. 1,000 cases made. — JM
