Kunz Fassprobe 17: Gut opulentes, süsses, kräftiges, fein marmeladiges Bouquet, Brombeergelee, schwarze Kirschen, Pralinen, Mocca. Dichter, samtener, konzentrierter Gaumen mit dunkler Frucht, viel feinem Tannin, konzentrierter Struktur, vielfältiger Aromatik, langer, dichter Abgang.

Lush and inviting, with warm cassis and plum sauce flavors that glide through, laced with anise and rooibos tea hints while sweet toast and wood spice notes stays nicely buried through the finish. A delicious, fruit-driven example. Drink now through 2035.—J.M.

Château Bellevue
Château Bellevue was originally owned by the two families behind the famed Horeau-Beylot négociant house – de Conink and Pradel de Lavaux. However, in September of 2007, Chateau Angélus purchased a fifty-percent share of the company. Neighboring châteaux Angélus, Beaséjour Duffau-Lagarrosse and Beau-Séjour Bécot, this acquisition was based on the property’s vicinity, as well as its top terroir. But this purchase was already a previous dream of Maurice de Boüard de Laforest, in 1938 he had hoped to buy this estate and seventy years later his children and grand-children have realized his dream. Today, the de Lavaux family stills owns fifty-percent of the property. Together, the two families work side by side to produced incredible wines with the help of vinous experts, Nicolas Thienpont and Stéphane Derenoncourt.
