The very polished feel lets the fruit glisten on the finish.—J.M.93 Robert ParkerThe 2018 Labégorce is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. It has 14% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with a beautiful perfume of kirsch, black cherry compote and cassis, plus hints of licorice, lilacs and baking spices. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly played with soft tannins and compelling freshness supporting the fragrant red and black fruits, finishing on a spicy note. Producer Château LabégorceThis elegant neoclassical château is located on the famous Route des Châteaux. Seventy hectares of the 250-hectare estate are devoted to viticulture. Bordering on châteaux Margaux and Lascombes, this property is mentioned in the 1868 edition of Cocks and Feret ("Bordeaux and its Wines"), which tells us of the existence of "a vineyard belonging to the Noble de la Bégorce family". The château is described as "... one of the most beautiful and best situated in the commune of Margaux". The Perrodo family acquired Labégorce in 1989 and renovated not only the château but also the vineyard. The family also improved the vinification techniques and Labégorce is now a charming wine with beautiful structure, bright fruit, and great finesse. The Perrodo family also acquired Château Marquis d’Alesme, a Third Growth Margaux, which they aim to transform into one of the jewels of the appellation.
