Schmeckt schon fast wie in einem grossen Jahr! warten (2019 - 2036)90 Wine SpectatorA racy, slightly high-pitched style, with red currant, blood orange and floral notes, lined with a bright iron accent that holds sway on the austere finish. —J.M. Producer Château Haut BatailleyA relatively new arrival on the Bordeaux scene, Château Haut-Batailley was historically part of Château Batailley, one of the oldest and largest estates in Pauillac. The Borie family, owners of the Batailley estate since 1931, had in fact been managing the property long before that date, starting from the late 1860s. In 1942, the family decided to divide the estate to avoid future inheritance issues: Marcel, the son, received the larger share, including the building and the name Château Batailley, while the remaining part of the estate went to his brother François, under the name Château Haut-Batailley.In 2017, the estate was acquired by the Cazes family, already owners of Château Lynch-Bages, who undertook significant renovation and expansion work. Today, Château Haut-Batailley covers 41 hectares and remains classified as a Cinquième Grand Cru Classé. The vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, and produces elegant and refined wines that reflect the typical character of the Pauillac terroir.
