La Dauphine 1994 75cl

Lying at the end of a long corridor of cypress trees, upon first view it might be easy to mistake certain likenesses of Château de la Dauphine with those of Château Margaux. Noble, distinct and polished, it is indeed one of the more formidable châteaux of the region with references dating back to 1670. Its southerly exposed 40 hectares take the form of an amphitheater and fall into multiple types of terroir around Fronsac. They produce multiple reds including its namesake, Château de la Dauphine, which is comprised of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. With Michel Rolland as consulting oenologist, the wines tend to be velvety in texture with ample fruit and lingering spice.
