Producer Château Clément-PichonChâteau Clément-Pichon is a lesser known property in the Haut-Médoc with one of the most imposing looking châteaux in the region. Built in 1881 (in an eclectic Renaissance style) by the same architect as Château Lanessan (Michel-Louis Garros), it is viewed as overbearing by some, but one cannot deny its personality. The estate is currently owned by billionaire building magnate, Clément Fayat, who bought it in 1976 and who also owns Château La Dominique. He renamed it Clément-Pichon (from Château Parempuyre) several years after its purchase. Its varieties are comprised of Merlot - a majority - followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and its consulting oenologist is Michel Rolland. In 2003, it was classified as Cru Bourgeois.
