VINTAGE REPORT 2024

VINTAGE REPORT 2024

After the rain, the sun will always shine

2024 was a vintage won in the vineyard.

Behind its quiet beginnings lies an elegant, nuanced, and refined vintage, born of resilience, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Climatic Context: a test of patience and precision

The 2024 growing season challenged even the most experienced vignerons. After a mild, wet winter that triggered early budbreak, spring brought persistent rain and cloud cover, creating the perfect storm for downy mildew and reducing yields — especially for Merlot.

Yet from late June to early August, a window of warm, dry weather arrived just in time, preserving acidity and allowing slow, steady ripening without extreme heat. By September, careful sorting became essential, especially in plots affected by botrytis.

The Wines: Outstanding Quality - Elegance Over Power

Red Wines

2024 reds are defined by finesse, freshness, and drinkability. Alcohol levels are moderate, acidity is naturally high, and the fruit character is pure, precise, and vibrant. The results are truly exceptional — and in some cases, even breathtaking.

White Wines

Harvested early, the whites show bright acidity, clear aromatic definition, and good tension. Most wines show beautiful balance and energy, ideal for early enjoyment or long-term cellaring.

Sweet Wines

Botrytis came early and spread fast. Multiple passes were needed, but those who waited were rewarded with delicate, refined, and harmonious wines, marked by moderate sugar levels and excellent acid/sugar balance.

Highlights from the Cellars

Top estates in both Left and Right Banks rose to the occasion. Among the stars of the vintage are:

Séraphine, Figeac, Lafite Rothschild, Haut-Brion, Ducru-Beaucaillou, Calon Ségur, Mouton Rothschild, Palmer, Léoville Poyferré, Pape Clément, Margaux, Lascombes, Ausone, Le Pin, Vieux Château Certan, Le Dôme, Angélus, Pontet-Canet, Montrose, L’Eglise Client, Lynch Bages, Pavie, Valandraud just to mention a few.

These wines embody the vintage’s best traits: elegance, definition, and a timeless Bordeaux spirit.

Conclusion: a modern classic in the making

2024 shows balance, authenticity, and precision. In a year marked by climatic and economic turbulence, the vintage rewards the committed — those who adapted at every turn.

This is a vintage for drinkers and collectors alike.

Fresh, vibrant, and refined — many wines will drink beautifully young, but the best will evolve gracefully.

If recent Bordeaux trends are any indication, 2024 is ready to shine!

And just as the sun follows the rain, the promise of this vintage is finally clear.
